Do you suffer from sinusitis, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic fatigue syndrome, depression, fibromyalgia, or cannot lose weight? You could be a victim of an overgrowth of the yeast Candida albicans.

Candida normally is harmless, and thrives alongside other bacteria in the digestive tract, mouth and other areas of the body.  The problem starts when it is too much of it. In our digestive tract we have trillions of bacteria, it outnumbers our human cells 10 to one. We should ideally have 90 percent good bacteria and 10 percent -”bad” bacteria. But this ratio may change due to long standing stress, taking antibiotics, poor diet, lack of sleep, refined foods. In this case we will have Candida overgrowth that may be manifested as :

  • Bloating or difficulty losing weight
  • Digestive discomfort, diarrhea, constipation, indigestion
  • Cravings for sweets, alcohol, carbohydrates
  • Constant feeling of fatigue
  • Mood disorders, mood swings, anxiety
  • Brain fog, difficulty in concentration, memory
  • Persistent allergies, ear infections, frequent cold or flu
  • Chronic joint pain

What to do?

Your doctor can order stool test (Genova Diagnostics) to detest Candida, or blood test to detect Candida antibodies. If any test is positive, there are many healthy lifestyle changes you can make to restore your body natural balance.

ELIMINATE SUGAR

Candida is nourished by sugar. Switching to low-carbohydrate diet can starve the candida overgrowth. Avoid sugars, carbohydrates, alcohol.

EAT ANTI-CANDIDA FOODS

In addition to eliminating Candida -enabling foods from your diet, you may also introduce herbs, and foods that combat Candida. Herbs include oregano, and cloves. Foods include garlic, onion, rutabaga, and seaweed. Coconut oil is also recommended , as it contains acrylic acid, which also can be taken in supplement form.

CONSUME PROBIOTIC FOODS OR SUPPLEMENTS

If you are treated with antibiotics, taking probiotic supplements and organic yogurt or kefir will be a mandatory. There is scientific data confirming positive outcomes of naturally fermented foods, such as sauerkraut, kimchi, natto. These foods will help good bacteria to grow and function in the large intestine.
